Australia has a great scope for pursuing a lucrative career. There’s a need for specialists in almost all major profession. If you are an engineer, nurse, teacher, or an accountant there is enough jobs for you in the industrial and commercial belt of Australia. …But, many fumble and miss the opportunity. Why? – Simply because they lack the suave skill to communicate in English, work on the basic mannerism to express one’s thought in the language, and master the interpersonal skills.

How to Get a Firm Foothold in Australia

If you are an expert in your field with some experience, it is easy for you to pick up a coveted job in Australia – however, be sure to pass the IELTS test that checks your potency in the English language. To get a work permit in Australia, candidates must secure some basic points in this assessment.

IELTS

Many immigrants come across to Australia each year in search of better pastures. Some are Indians, Koreans, and Japanese, while few others are from Jamaica, Denmark, and France. The problem with many of the people who wanted to work in Australia is that they cannot communicate with the Australians in English and also understand their spoken language.

Although powerful in their respective subjects, they cannot express themselves well in the corporate, hospitality, and medical sectors. As a result, the Australian government formulated an assessment test, IELTS, to pick those who also knew the English language well.

IELTS Score

The cut-off marks for each specialization is different. For instance, a nurse would need to immensely communicate with the patients, know his wants and likings, and so on. An engineer at the oil sector would not have to deal with the customers but with his peers and superiors. As such, the qualifying marks for IELTS score for a nurse would be higher than the oil sector engineer. In short, the points needed for the test vary from one visa to another.

In the Skilled Visa category, the candidates who secure high marks in IELTS test get permanent residency status while those who get low marks don’t quality for this coveted status.

Issues

There are perhaps not many issues for those whose first language has been English during their educational years. They’d successfully pass the IELTS test with flying colors with little homework. But for those applicants whose medium has not been in English, passing the test or securing a high score is rather difficult.

Moreover, the cost of appearing for the IELTS test is high. It would rather become difficult for the applicants from abroad to appear again and again for this test. The result for not passing this test would mean that they have to go back to their native country and forgo all opportunities to work in Australia.
